Neon Neon.

How does it feel to know that today is the last day of summer?  To be quite honest, Fall is my favorite season, so I really don't mind...
Spiegel dress, H&M cropped blazer, Target leopard belt, Michael Kors watch, Franco Sarto sandals.
Funny story about this dress.  My mom wanted my opinion on an outfit she was going to wear to shoot at a wedding she had booked for that weekend.  I didn't like the ensemble she had going (involving this neon dress), but as soon as I was exposed to this fabulous dress, I forced her to let me try it on.  I ran into my closet, slapped on the waist belt, threw the cropped blazer over it, strapped on the sandals, and BOOM.    It was all mine (at least for the day).  She obviously ended up going for a different outfit (I think it was more fitting for the occasion Mother) lol.  Thanks Mom (I still haven't returned the dress)!

This week on instagram (you can follow me @krisbliss), I also feed the photos daily to my FB page here:

My bestie Lei snapped these photos of me yesterday.  It was good to see her as always, and it was such a gorgeous day!

Here's my latest youtube video (product review).  Check it out!

Happy Friday!

Home for the Holidays
Hey guys!  This winter season has been pretty fun so far, I must say!  I've been hanging with friends, enjoy newness in my life, and continuing to find new ways to be creative!  It has also been eye opening.  A lot of changes, new people in my life, and I am enjoying every minute of it!  I am, however, missing my best friend Sasha (who is currently residing in Germany).  We keep in touch pretty well, but it's not the same, not physically seeing/hanging out with her.  I have plans to visit her next summer, but it just isn't the same bringing in the New Year without her!!

As this year is coming to an end, it's time to reflect on life's blessings.  Revisit the good and the bad.  Realize the things you would like to change, and things you would like to evolve.  Holding on to the memories of loved ones you lost, and finding a way to move on, to keep peace and balance in your life!

I always make New Years Resolutions.  Although it may be cliche, I think it's great to have goals and aspirations, and working everyday to achieve these goals is what keeps me going!  Keep reaching!

Wearing a vintage silk blouse, feather headband from Urban Outfitters, fur vest via LF, Gap pants, & Coach fur + leather boots
Like my hair?!  I am loving it!  I was inspired by Alex of The Good Hair Blog, and it is so easy to maintain!  I'll be adding this new "doo" in my rotation of "go-to hair doo's!"
Sharing with you all some decorations around the house :)

All of my Christmas shopping is done (I did it all online), and all I have to do is wrap my presents!  I'll probably save that for Christmas Eve... There needs to be some last minute element to cut down my anxiousness/excitement for Christmas Day!!

I've also been on the hunt for a New Year's Eve outfit, but am having no luck!  Every dress I find myself liking is either sold out or unavailable in my size.  I may have to go to the mall and find some pieces to whip together.  Do you guys have any plans for NYE?  I am heading to the city again, but my plans aren't solidified.  Whatever I do, I just want to bring in the New Year with the people I love!

Happy holidays!!

Keep living.

Dress from T. J. Maxx, Anthropologie sweater, Michele watch

You ever hear of the term "5-year plan" or "10-year plan?"  Well, I'm the queen of making plans.  Goals, guidelines, plans, lists, deadlines... I seem to always have them for every aspect of my life.  While it's good to have plans and goals, sometimes getting wrapped up in "following the plan" can cause a lot of stress, and could also close your mind to other possible opportunities that can equally give you experience for growth, even if it's in a field you never once considered working.

There's a phrase that goes something like, "If you want to make God laugh, tell Him your plans."  Although I've heard this a million times before, I still somehow make an attempt to map out basically my whole life!  I'll state that I'll be doing this by this age, or living there by that month, but I'm realizing that everything happens for a reason, and when it's time for me to be here or there, that's where I'll be.

Half of my heart is pulsing to the beat of New York City, but the other half of my heart is still home.  I want to go back to school, but now may not be the right time.  My point is, even if my life seems like a big ? right now, I have to keep living.  I may not be at the place I thought I'd be almost a year post graduating college, but as long as I keep living with a purpose, I truly believe I will get there someday.

As for some good news, I'll be working on some great music projects (that I was fortunately asked to be a part of), and will fill you guys in on it hopefully soon!

Remember guys, everyone dies, but not everyone lives!  Keep living!

Mama Nina's
You guys know how much I love food.
Well,  there's a restaurant in my town that a lot of my friends & co-workers were recommending for me to try called Mama Nina.

I had made plans with my cousin who lives in the area, and we both enjoy getting our grub on, so this worked out perfectly lol.
I had my mother snap some photos of my outfit.  It had been raining off and on all day, but it was still warm outside!

Don't worry, I'm wearing shorts underneath my blouse lol.
Wearing an American Apparel sheer blouse, BDG shorts, and Michael Kors creme patent leather wedges
Jewelry.
My cousin already knew the deal, he was just watching/making fun of me the whole time :p

Thankfully it wasn't raining by the time we got to the restaurant (because I wanted to sit outside), and we were luckily able to get seated right away!

The restaurant is located on the historic/downtown part of the city, and I always enjoy going down there for the scenery!

As soon as we got seated, we were immediately served with fresh garlic bread.  It was soooo yummy!
They also give you a complimentary glass of wine (I was unaware of this, so I brought my own, and there wasn't even a corkage fee)!

Ok, at this point I would suggest getting a glass of water before continuing to read this post.  Food pictures shortly following will most likely cause instant salivation.

Then the food came out...

I ordered the spaghetti and meat sauce with mushrooms.  Everything is made fresh to order, so you can really freestyle any dish!

Can't you just tell from the picture how thick & creamy that sauce was?  It was seriously straight cream.  It was so delicious!  Christian ordered the Angel Hair Gorgonzola. "Sauteed with baby lobster, shrimp, scallops, and jumbo lump crab meat in a vodka gorgonzola basil cream sauce."  I only had a few bites, but man oh man.

I really enjoyed the atmosphere and energy of Mama Nina, a real Mom & Pop type place.  The owner was pretty active with the customers the whole time we were dining.  Helping seat tables, boxing up food, greeting customers...  He was such a sweet older man, always smiling, and I made sure to tell him it was my first time dining there, and how I thought the food was fantastic!

I ate a good portion of my entree, and it didn't even look like I touched it when I was finished lol.  Of course I got it boxed up, and I actually finished the rest of it last night (a tear fell down my right eye with the last bite lol).  I  had asked to look at the dessert menu, but I knew better than to order anything haha!  I'll definitely be back!

P.S.  I totally missed the season 4 premiere of True Blood last night, so I'm going to find it online and watch it asap!  How was it?  Does anyone watch TB?

Blame it On Me
Well hello there!  Yes, it has been awhile, and I don't even have an excuse!  Forgive me?  K thanks!

This past weekend was pretty eventful.  I went to the West Oak Lane Jazz Festival in Philly with my bff Leilani.  It's a 3-day, free festival that features a lot of great jazz artists, with various vendors selling art, jewelry, clothing, skin, body, & hair products, basically anything and everything!

We went the first day, on Friday, to see Chrisette Michele.  She performed in the evening, but we arrived there in the afternoon to check out some of the other artists first.

Btw, I didn't touch up my legs in any of these pics, this is all exfoliation + baby oil lol.  When the legs are out, I don't mess around!

Lei killin 'em as usual.  How cute are her shoes!!

Of course we had to take it there...

Wearing an ASOS denim top, Rogan for Target dress, Gap gold braided belt, and Enigma wedges
I've already worn this dress on the blog here, but it's my favorite dress, and I styled it differently this time.  I wanted to look casually cute, since it was a festival.  I couldn't roll up looking too dressy, so I think the denim + b&w leopard print + brown wedge combo gave me a solid "safari chic" vibe, which was the look I was going for :) lol

My plan was to take a lot of street style photos whilst at the festival, so my mom helped me make some business cards to hand out to people once I took their picture.  Thanks Mom!

Does anyone else use baby oil regularly?  I can't be the only one... Right?

Unfortunately I didn't find anyone I felt was worthy of capturing...... Business card #fail
(I actually did end up giving out my business card to two people.  One to the owner of the artwork below, and some random dude who wouldn't leave me alone.  I need to do better next time haha)!

The first thing we did as soon as we got to jazz fest was eat (of course).  We went to a soulfood place called Victoria's Place, and grubbed on some fried fish, buffalo shrimp, collard greens, candied yams, and mac & cheese.  It was so yummy!  We then walked around to check out some performances + vendors before Chrisette's set.
This woman's artwork is created solely from banana leaves.  How creative is that!  I found her work to be beautiful!

There were also some great clothing & jewelry vendors, but I was so in awe I forgot to take pictures!  That and my Nikon was seeming to attract too much unwanted attention, so that also shied me away from taking as many photos smh...

This is the only close up pic I could find (via a google search), and these back tattoos are Photoshopped on....  Are those supposed to be wings? lol...
You CLEARLY can't see her well from my pictures, since I was far away, and don't have (yet) a zoom lens, but she looked GORGEOUS!  The dress, the hair, and she sounded great!  She is VERY entertaining as well, so effortlessly comfortable on stage.  It was enjoyable to watch and I was jammin' hard because I love her music!  Her band was killin' and her bg vocalists were hilarious.  Get it Chrisette!

Throughout the day at the festival Lei and I kept getting wiffs of baby oil (it wasn't me, promise lol), and saw sight of a LOT of interesting characters, including this one lady who got past the lazy security, basically jumping on stage to get Chrisette's autograph.  Chrisette kept it classy and gladly signed the woman's yellow lined piece of paper this fan presented to her.  The fan was super hype, making sure to wave it in everyone's faces as she walked back to her lawn chair -_-

Sunday was Father's Day, and some of the family came over to hang.  The men played golf, and unfortunately I had to work, but I rushed home as soon as I got off that evening, to spend a little time with the family before they left, and to spend the rest of the evening with my wonderful father on Father's Day.

My mom cooked up a storm:  jerk chicken, bbq ribs (homemade sauce), potato salad, corn on the cob, grilled vegetables... We had fresh fruit, and Mom made two homemade peach cobblers, homemade coconut pound cake, and even had the nerve to make some homemade ice cream to go with it!  She really outdid herself!!  And of course it was all delicioso cuz my mom is a BEAST in the kitchen!

I've been really trying to stay focused on my workout grind and make my weight goals, but having all this food in the house is a problem!  How am I not supposed to gain weight when I have all this butter, salt, and sugar haunting me everytime I step foot into the kitchen?!?  LOL,  Ohhhhh well.

P.S.  Today is the first day of summer! Woo hoo! :)

Late to everything, everywhere, everything!
The title of this post is the direct reference to how my friends and I are ALWAYS LATE when we plan to go somewhere together.  We're not late to everything individually, but when we all plan an outing, and plan to leave/arrive at a certain time, we always miss the mark.  We're. Always. Late.  And I'm not talking about 10, maybe even 15 minutes late.  I mean HOURS late haha!  It's so ridiculous!

So last week, Tuesday to be exact, I headed into the city with my friend Leilani to see some of my college guy friends (who play for Jordan Knight)'s album release party at the Canal Room in Tribeca (If you're unsure of who Jordan Knight is, google New Kids on the Block) lol.  Lei and I, along with some of our other girlfriends were all going to meet up at this album release that evening (mind you the album release starts at 8:30p.m.).

Wearing a Patrick Robinson for Target dress, Enigma Wedges, and vintage jewelry
Lei and I get into the city around 6ish, but had to hit up a Chipotle (food > everything) lol.  We get to our friend Shawna's apartment to change and then plan to head to the party to see the show/meet up with our friend Therlande (4 of us ladies total).

Everyone's taking their sweet ole time getting ready, and I notice that it's already 8:00.  We're not even close to being out the door, so I mention that we should really finish getting dressed because we're going to be late.  I mention this a good 3 more times before we actually head out the door, AT 9:30p.m. SMH!

Long story short, we get there and... THE SHOW IS OVER.  Therlande shows up even later than us!  All we could do is laugh!

These are probably my favorite pair of shoes.  I bought them last year, days before graduation to wear with my grad dress.  So glad I purchased them!  And they're extremely comfortable!

Jordan Knight ended up walking past us so we did see him for all of two seconds haha, and we chatted with our guy friends for a bit after the show as well (sidenote: groupies are real... Smh).  Us girls decided to head to Cafeteria to meet up with some ppl for drinks and conversation.  We had a great time, I even ran into a friend from high school!  The night was really random, but it was a night filled with laughter, fun, and memories to last a lifetime!

My Persuasion Can Build A Nation.
Hey guys!  I know it's been awhile, but life sometimes takes me out of my regular blogging routine!  I don't have any major updates, I've just been enjoying being a young 20 something, and living life!  The weather is vastly improving and I've been soaking up the sun at every chance I get!  Is it safe to say that I'm naturally in a better mood during the summer months hehe?

In other news, I think I'm going back to school.  I don't know when, but I realize that in today's economy, having a bachelor's degree really doesn't cut it.  I want to get my masters, so I'm lowkey looking into grad schools.  Is anyone else having a tough time getting a job in their desired career field these days?  I'll keep you guys posted on my school search :)

In my last post, I discussed my opinion on my generations lack of proper dating, which seemed to cause a little buzz.  I've been heavily speaking about the subject, and relationships/interactions between the sexes not just on this blog, but with friends and fam, and actually a lot with people via twitter for like the past week lol!  It's interesting to hear people's perspectives on dating, especially in regards to women and men in their early 20's.  I enjoyed the conversation and opinions!  Thanks guys!

Wearing an UO dress, Kenneth Cole belt, Topshop silver cuff, and Nine West wedge slingbacks
I was attempting to channel my inner Beyonce by performing the choreography from her Billboard Music Awards performance of Run the World, but ended up channeling my own craziness. Smh.  Did anyone see that performance?  How amazing was she?!

I love the zipper detail and the back of this dress so much.  And I got it for 15 bucks!  Holler.

I'm headed to an album release party tomorrow which should be exciting, and I'll get to see some of my college buddies, which is always fun!

Everyone have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend, and let us never forget the fallen women and men soldiers who risked their lives to serve and fight for our country, and also the ones that do each day!  We thank you!

Best,

-Kris
